Closing Success Story

Teamwork

Everyone loves a good success story – especially when it comes with heaping praise for all of our hard work! The following is a testimonial provided by a happy loan officer at one of our branch offices. It highlights why the Inlanta Mortgage platform helps loan officers originate more, worry less.

I have now accomplished the perfect closing.

I closed a loan today in 49 minutes – but that is not what made it perfect. The closing took place at 2:00pm. I stopped to get my standard closing gift and got there at 2:25pm. As I walked in the buyer’s attorney turns his head and says ..’Oh, this is Mike… He’s awesome. He always has the money here and funds quickly.. Hi Mike.’

After I say hello to everyone, I sit down. The realtors start telling me how fast this closing was and how they couldn’t believe it. It was a short sale and once the BPO had come back at value – I began the process so by the time the approval came in I had it clear-to-close minus title and appraisal. I am grateful to Cheryl for processing a good file and John underwriting a good loan.

In the mist of it all these accolades being thrown at me the closer turns and says , ‘Mike your money isn’t here’.. I calmly ask her to check yesterday’s wires. She says, ‘Yesterday’s?’ in her best Seinfeld voice? I nod and she checks. She then announces to all, ‘The money is here!!’

Next, I ask her if the funding part of the package has been sent and she tells me it has. I walk out of the office, call Tracy in our funding department to ask her for the funding number. Tracy puts me on hold a quick minute and comes back with my funding number. I then walk back into the closing and the attorney says, ‘We just finished Mike.’ to which I reply, ‘Our funding number is 9522.’

Finally, I pull out my closing gift (a closed plastic bin filled with fantastic assortment of cleaning supplies every homebuyer needs) and ask, ‘Does anyone know what the first thing you need or want when you walk in your new house?’  The Buyers agent yells out, ‘Cleaning supplies!’ which I begin to unload from the plastic bin. I finish my typical closing speech and say ‘What is the one thing and most important thing that you want in the house?’ 3 people yell “toilet paper!” which I pull out last before we all walk out of the room in 49 minutes only 24 minutes after I got there.

Moral of the story? I couldn’t have made it happen without such a great support team behind me. Thank you Cheryl for processing, Tracy for closing, John for underwriting and last but not least our senior management for putting great people and processes in place.

Those who know me know I am not one to suck up, but in this case it’s impossible not to when such an outstanding job was done by everyone.

– Mike, A Happy Loan Officer.
